Problem with the GIT!!!!!!!!!!!

Post by PompeySteve on Thu 27 Jan 2011, 16:49

Fuel pump wouldn't turn off ... new relay purchased from owners club ... 5 minutes later fixed. Everything perfect again. That was it for the first 10 months of owenership. You lot really ought to get a French car ... so much more reliable Cool

In the formative days of motoring in the UK i believe a man with a Red flag had to walk in front of any cars on the roads of our Great country. I believe in France The flag was white! nothing like being prepared. You can always can always call the French reliable at one thing..

This is unfair to be honest. as in 1940 when the British expeditionary force were pinned back at Dunkirk the French garrisons There and at Calais refused to surrender and fought almost to the last man to help the British get of the beaches. Some thing you don't really hear about. To those brave men i salute you.

But i still ain't buying your cars!

It wasn't altogether altruism. Of the 338,000 odd troops evacuated from Dunkirk (mainly by the Royal Navy and associated civilian helpers), more than 100,000 were French. That's something you don't really hear about either.

Also you don't here about the 150,000 that were left behind. Of which my uncle Albert was one. He did survive the war, but sadly died in 1976 of a heart attack. His escape from Dunkirk is a story and half. which i'm not even going to attempt to write on here.

I had at 306 Gti6 and had loads of promlems in the 18 months i had it including snapped front springs, 3 sets of drop-links, knackered steering rack, exhaust rusting to nothing, various dash blubs coming on and off and the best one was the failing of all the dash instruments (although this just needed a reset to fix)

Only car i've not had problems with is my 1992 Mini Cooper!

Have to admit owning 2 since, but not through choice Laughing

And don't forget 944 owners we can buy DME relays for £5 if you know what to buy Wink

I now have 4 working DMEs for the price I'd pay for one from a Porka Laughing

Its French, thats the problem. I mean Italian unreliability is one thing, at least you look good while stranded at the side of the road, but French unreliability, thats something else entirely.
