Very interesting. Can't help thinking there must be more than 827 manual n/a's left. At least I hope so.
Fil, stop taking them to bits chopping them up immediately!

It's interesting to look at some cars you have owned in the past E.g Renault Fuego GTX

Got the full stats somewhere and that is about what they said too. There are about 1400 on Sorn as well though.

Mmm... that's just a front end onto the DVLA data. You can download the whole spreadsheet here, should you feel so inclined.

I do wonder how true some of these stats are though, there were apparently 14 BMW 840's on the road in the UK 4 years before they went into production!

As with any such collection of stats pulled from a computer database, "fat fingers" will be a factor. There will inevitably be a small percentage of errors introduced by incorrect data entry.

Even if its 95% right it is still quite useful. Interesting to compare the 924 to something like a Triumph Stag where there are 2500 Stags licensed. Stags are obviously seen as a good classic car now and with those numbers there is obviously still a viable business to be had remanufacturing parts and spares. The same will not be true of the 924 i.e. with less than a 1000 out there you are not going to start re-making trim bits. So, if you want to keep em running I reckon stock on 'new old stock' stuff while it is still available.

True but remember that those are UK figures only. Worldwide the picture may well be somewhat rosier. The Stag ran out to around 25,000 units worldwide whereas the 924 (if you include the turbo) was more like 150,000.

Now true, right-hookers will be less numerous so RHD specific parts might get tricky.

Also bear in mind that Porsche continually display a solid commitment to owners of its old cars (seemingly not paying too much heed to the economics) whereas Triumph / BL no longer exist.

I think 924 owners are still in a better place than Stag owners.

Bearings and aerial are straightforward and cheap, its the paint that starts to get expensive, especially as yours is quite a unique colour and will likely be difficult to match.
