MOT Passed - now to locate the whine

Post by spyro_x on Mon 15 Aug 2011, 14:31

So as Rob said she would, she passed the MoT today with only two minors (one being slightly corroded brake pipes, but the tester said actually it was one of the connectors rather than the pipes, and the other being the standard not too brilliant handbrake on the near side which is quite a bit lower than on the off side).

Still loving driving her about but come across a new noise recently, when she's warmed up and I've been driving at pace (not illegal pace but not hanging about pace either) if I slow down and drop her down a cog or two there is a whining noise coming from the front - goes away if the clutch is depressed and only does it in motion - i.e. if I let the clutch out again when she's stationary and not in gear no noise so I don't think the whine is from the engine or the clutch and the whine goes away as I speed up and move up through the gears. Definitely coming from the front rather than the gearbox. Any suggestions? (apologies for the not so great description).
