Re: Boxster owner going for 924 ownership
Glad to hear it, must admit the Banana is more comfy to drive on a long journey than my daily drive 316 compact.
Can just lay back and enjoy the views!!

Re: Boxster owner going for 924 ownership
I once had a 316 compact SE as a company car. N-reg, brand new in White.
It went for a service at 12,000 miles or so and I had a call from an irate lady at the lease company who had just been informed by Leaseplan that the car needs front pads already ....
.... Well, I'd never had ABS before!

Re: Boxster owner going for 924 ownership
Went to Sutton Coldfield OPC today. I like them in there, always give me great service - I've been there plenty of times for Boxster parts.
Anyhow, picked up a few trim items and they actually commented on the 924 and how nice it looked. That has never happened with the Boxster!
Then had a giggle about the cost of Porsche exhausts and told them about the custom system I'm having fitted on Monday.
Then asked them about setting the timing and generally giving it a tune. He made a call to the workshop who were interested and said they would do it for £75 on a preferential rate. I tell ya, I'm half tempted by their offer.
But can you imagine the fault list they will give me back .......

Was taking about the mobilty scooter riders myself!!
Glad they liked your 24, never been in an opd yet but might have to next year for the experiance ( and the free coffee/cakes)
If you do get a very long list of faults, at least you wont need to buy bog roll for a while!!

Re: Boxster owner going for 924 ownership
I find the guys in my local OPC, are really interested to talk with 'real' porsche drivers, not the ones who chop in their cars when the new plate number comes out.....

Same with Newcastle OPC, always been more than helpful, certainly helps when the Parts manager John has been around since the 924/944 were the new kids

Hadn't noticed til now but your questions never did get answered
original door cards, but I'm mor einterested in the seats, don't know how I've missed them all this time.
They look to be original upholstery, but I've never seen that material before, and it does look like new.
But then I've never seen another set like the ones in my first every 924, a '79 with black leather seats with the insets in red.
BTW do you mind if I use the pic of your interior for this years calendar?

Re: Boxster owner going for 924 ownership
Mav - only just seen your reply!
I hope you did use the interior pic for the calendar ????
The interior is not standard. It was reupholstered at huge cost £650 in 2010 by the second owner. Sympathetic job though.
Just about to add an interesting "find" to this thread ...

Re: Boxster owner going for 924 ownership
My interesting find
I found this buyers guide to the 924 a few months ago and low-and-behold, on page 3, it features a 924 Lux which has the registration ARY 724Y .... mine is 716Y. Same colour, same supplying dealer I reckon.
See here and look at Porsche924[1].pdf
This got me wondering if the spider web wheels on my 924 were not originals but were added at a later date ... However, I read that some dealers "added to the original spec" at the time of sale in a bid to sell more cars and that "officially" there was no "lux" model ... it was something invented by UK dealers.
I love the interior shown on page 9. Mine has been reupholstered and the original owner says it was "pretty ordinary inside" although he is getting on a bit now and couldn't quite remember.
Hope you find it all interesting and save the PDF somewhere safe on your computer!
