the Shed has been sent for its MOT... wish me luck.

Post by RPUK on Mon 16 Jan 2012, 20:01

Everything is now crossed as I await tomorrow's verdict.

She obviously didn't want to go as she had a little temper-trantrum this morning on the way to work; two minutes of alternator belt screeching (imagine a cat with its dangly bits wired up to the mains and you'll get somewhere close to the racket) coupled with the volt meter dropping ominously to "12". The message was loud (very loud) and clear, "I'm on batteries mate... you'd better get me home before you run out of volts and amps".

However... she relented after a bit of sweet-talking, perhaps fooled by the fact that I turned for home, stopped screaming and the volt meter climbed back to "14".

Hurrah! MoT passed. A couple of "advisories" regarding "slight corrosion" on two brake pipes but this MoTer is a fussy bugger. Actually I like that, I'd rather have a fussy bugger than an incompetent idiot when it comes to vehicle safety.

So, 12 months Tax applied for on the back of the MoT, it has been serviced and that alternator belt has been tightened up. All looking good.

Wifes car was just in for a checkup. Replace all the shocks I was told plus a couple of other suspension bits.
Done that.
However no-one spotted the cracked brake lines I found while in there.
right where they attach to the front struts so wasnt hard to find.

Hard to find a good mechanic.
